Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is part of a team of accountants supporting the organization in providing accurate accounting, tax, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for/assist with fixed assets, property tax reporting, legacy bank account reporting, and merchant processor conversion. The Staff Accountant prepares general ledger account analysis, reconciliations, journal entries and is an active participant in the month end close process. The Staff accountant plays an integral part in integration and data reporting for acquired practices.
General Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain fixed asset ledgers for multiple locations, prepare supporting audit and tax schedules, prepare monthly journal entries.
- Prepare personal property tax returns for multiple municipalities and multiple entities
- Prepare monthly sales and use tax filings for multiple states
- Responsible for preparation of legacy bank account reconciliations with assistance from Senior Accountants
- Responsible for reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts
- Ad hoc and special projects as needed in accounting department
- Prepare various general ledger account analysis and create supporting schedules.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a major in accounting preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of accounting experience including general ledger and account reconciliation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with fixed assets, property tax returns, and sales tax a plus
- Intermediate experience with excel and ability to create ad hoc spreadsheets
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to problem solve
- Energized by the challenge of working on a team with the goal of growing a successful business and the related support functions and structures
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
