The founding doctors are also entrepreneurs. Both co-founded OrthoFi, a company that provides proprietary software and services to help make orthodontics more affordable. Summary of Position:

The Business Development Associate role offers the opportunity to take significant responsibility at a highly acquisitive, fast-growing private equity portfolio company in the physician practice management space (orthodontic practice focus). Orthodontic Partners is scaling rapidly (growth from 8 to 30+ clinics over the last 12 months) and highly acquisitive (targeting 10 – 12+ closed deals per year), with ample capital support from a sophisticated private equity partner to continue and accelerate this growth.

The Business Development Associate role will serve as a key voice in providing input for strategic development and acquisition opportunities within the orthodontic industry. The position offers significant exposure to senior firm leaders and leadership at the private equity partner. Longer term, the Business Development Associate has an opportunity to grow into a more senior, market-facing role.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for conducting preliminary valuation work, as well as valuation analysis and financial modeling for prospective and ongoing transactions.
  • Manages ongoing due diligence processes and activities.
  • Facilitates cross-functional partnerships to enable successful integration of new partners.
  • Assists in developing and preparing proposals and presentations to prospects and firm leadership.
  • Undertakes financial, business, and market analysis with emphasis on reviewing and analyzing financial statements and key performance metrics.
  • Participates in sourcing and lead origination activities, including industry events and meetings with prospects.
  • Provides support to the Vice President, Business Development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly proficient in Excel. Excellent financial and data analysis skills; familiarity with financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with M&A process.
  • Highly motivated and organized; excels in a fast-paced, project-based work environment where significant independent initiative is required for success.
  • Strong research skills – including great attention to detail - to gather necessary information with demonstrated capability to reach informed decisions.
  • Exceptional critical and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to adapt communications to varying audiences.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Prior experience in a role with significant exposure to M&A, investment banking or deal advisory preferred.
  • Operational finance or FP&A at an acquisitive business also considered.
